Ongoing Wrestling Opportunities:

HHS Youth Wrestling Camp - Entering grades 3-9 - Monday - Thursday ꞁ June 8 - June 11 - 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. HHS Wrestling Room – registration is open now.

Tallmadge Youth Wrestling – practices Tuesday and Thursday through the 12th of this month. Tallmadge High School (Door 27) 6 - 7:30 pm. Will be mostly varsity wrestlers. There is no charge. I have had good experiences with the Tallmadge coaches.

Titan Wrestling Club – Practices Tuesday & Thursday from 6 – 8 pm. This is a for profit wrestling club. You can drop in at any time for $10 a practice or they have membership options. The practices this time of year are challenging as they have kids that are preparing for the OAC Youth State Championships the end of the month. They run camps that are more instructional in nature. I’ll share details as they become available.

Q: Why Wrestling?

A: Most kids that wrestle can be successful in the sport if they work hard and continue in the sport. Innate athleticism is important in wrestling, but skill, positioning, intelligence and hard work are more determinative of a wrestler’s ultimate success in the sport. All kids will be challenged by the sport and if they stay with it they will learn the connection between hard work and results, to be more resilient when the results aren’t what they wanted, and to think through and leverage resources to improve. Your child’s own effort and decisions will be the determining factor in how successful they can be.
