event which provided each wrestler with ample opportunities to compete. The tournament started promptly at 9am and finished at noon. The majority of the competitors were from local area clubs to include North Akron, Stow, Ohio Lightning, Cuyahoga Falls, and Madison. Five of our eight wrestlers finished on the podium for their respective weight classes. Matt Williams earned a first place finish by pinning his way through three consecutive bouts. David Cumberledge (3-1), Ronnie Pietro (3-1), Kyle Minor (3-1), and Joey Hawthorne (1-1) all earned 2nd place finishes. A special note of congratulations to David Cumberledge who handily defeated a wrestler whom had beat him twice in competition last year. David is one of several wrestlers who has joined our club from outlying communities this year. Keep up the good work boys.

Two Kratos wrestlers, Matthew Williams and Ronnie Pietro, visited the Boardman Preseason Tournament on October 19th. The Boardman tournament, located near Youngstown, drew a sizeable field of around 400+ participants from across Pennslyvania and Ohio. Matthew Williams, who turns 7 in December competed in the 5/6 age group as well as the 7/8 age group. Matthew pinned his way through through the 5/6 age group for a 1st place finish and posted a 2-2 record in the 7/8 age group with both losses on points earning a 4th place in the field of nine. Ronnie Pietro who has moved up an age group from last year into the 9/10 age division, went 1-2 on the day. In his 12 man bracket, he lost his first match 4-2 then came back to win his second match by pin before losing his final match, 5-2 to a 2008 state qualifier.
